The entire district is invited to the campus of Concordia University Chicago for a Northern Illinois District observance of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation on Saturday, October 28, 2017.

The day-long celebration will feature a renaissance faire atmosphere complete with educational and fun activities for children of all ages. Pastors, congregations, schools, church leaders, children, parents and grandparents all can participate in the fun, while also being edified by the great heritage of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Features of the day will include:

  • Children’s games and educational activities
  • Character actors from the 16th Century
  • Renaissance players and activities
  • Lunch with Luther
  • A chance to view in person J. S. Bach’s personal Bible and other authentic 16th Century Reformation era rare books
  • Engaging speakers on the Reformation legacy—past, present and future
  • Culminating festival worship service with inspiring music and a district-wide children’s choir

Families, schools and congregations will begin arriving at 9:30 a.m.; festivities begin at 10. Lunch will be available for purchase, and worship concludes the activities from 2 to 3 p.m.

Online registration will be available beginning September 2016 (yes, a year in advance).
