Mission of Work
The mission of the church is what it always has been: to proclaim the good news to an unbelieving world. As Christ's church we hold the eternal truth of the gospel as a treasure to be guarded carefully, but also as a treasure that needs to be shared. We must guard this treasure because we see how easily other churches have slowly (or quickly) let the teachings of the world infect their doctrine and practice. The end result is a church in name only, that has been hollowed out from the inside and can no longer speak truth or offer true comfort. We also must share the treasure, as it is the only message that can save those outside of the true church. This message must be proclaimed as both the full strength of the law, and the great sweetness of the gospel.
Challenges, Opportunities, and Goals
I have found that the biggest challenge the nomination committee faces is finding people who are willing to serve in these positions.
