Led an LCMS church group on a mission trip to Belize (2015).

The mission of the LCMS as I see it is to faithfully and biblically share God's word - the Law and Gospel - by ensuring the congregants are properly guided in all elements of Christian life. I see the mission of the NID to serve congregations as best they can by providing resources to the congregation and spiritual care to the called staff beyond what any individual church is capable of doing. Having participated in a minister call process while serving on our board of Elders, I saw first hand the tremendous blessings our district is able to provide in placing new pastors with congregations.

This will be my first direct exposure to the board, so I'm not well-versed on the challenges and opportunities of the district. I see a tremendous need in the mission field as well as a need to continue to counsel our called church workings. Any guidance I can provide through the eyes of a layperson to whatever those challenges may be would be an honor for me. I've been noted for my candor and directness with appropriate patience and empathetic listening when helping others resolve issue. If this skill is appropriate for the needs of the board, I'm happy to share.
