Mission of Work

The mission of Christ's Church is to strengthen the saved and save the lost. Christ’s Church strengthens the saved by the Spirit drawing us closer together in Jesus through His Word and Sacraments – the fruits of His cross and tomb delivered to us here and now. Here God works so our faith is sustained, deepened, and borne out with good fruit.

Christ’s Church saves the lost when the same Word and Spirit that draws us together to receive forgiveness, life, and salvation in Jesus alone, pushes us back out into the world to love, serve, and share this new life with others in our daily vocations; inviting them to gather with us around the same Jesus we hear, taste, and are cleansed anew by each week.

The Synod and her districts faithfully strive to come alongside congregations to facilitate God's work together, that otherwise cannot be done as well or effectively apart.

Challenges, Opportunities, and Goals

Now standing at the 2nd quarter of the 21st century, we can see the tremendous challenges Christ's Church faces across our American urban, suburban, rural, and small-town landscapes, alike. Yet, so too are the opportunities tremendous! So, just as our current circumstance is new, so may we, by God's Word and Spirit, faithfully think anew and faithfully act anew to rise and meet it anew with thanks and joy as Christ's Church - a Church that is no less anchored in Christ crucified, grounded in God's Word, and guided in its understanding and practice from our Lutheran Confessions, as generations past.

Instead of shrinking from the hard task before us or lamenting the loss of the “golden years” behind us, churches, district, and Synod can rise to meet our current occasion with the same undaunted courage that our forefathers tapped into as pioneers, yet in our own new frontier. By God's Word and Spirit, let us strive together in that common cause, trusting God's promise in Eph. 3:20-21.
